1970 İstanbul doğumluyum. Kadıköy Anadolu Lisesi ve ardından İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesini bitirdim. Kimya Yüksek Mühendisiyim. Evliyim ve bir oğlum var. Profesyonel iş hayatımı takiben 2012 yılından itibaren kendi şirketimde çalışma hayatıma devam etmekteyim.
GÖKHAN ARER ve FOTOĞRAF
2015 Yılında Oğluma almış olduğum bir fotoğraf makinesi ile bu sihirli dünyaya adım attım. Fotoğraf Atölyesi isimli bir kursta temel fotoğraf eğitimi aldım. Bu kursta tanıştığım bir Fotoğraf eğitmeni sayesinde Sokak Fotoğrafı ile tanıştım ve bende tutku haline geldi. İş harici zamanımın büyük bir bölümünde sokak fotoğrafı çekmeye çalışıyorum. Fotoğraf çekimi için tercih ettiğim yerler ‘Fotoğrafın Kutsal Toprakları’ diye adlandırdığımız Sirkeci, Eminönü ve Karaköy olmaktadır. Fotoğraflarımın merkezinde genellikle insan vardır ve gerçekleşen sürprizlerin tanığı olmak, o sahneleri ölümsüzleştirmek tutkumun en önemli ve keyifli tarafıdır. Bazen de o sahneleri üst üste veya yan yana getirerek gerçeğinden farklı bir çerçeve ile anlatıp sunmak başka bir deyişle ilüzyon yaratmaya çalışmak başka bir mutluluk yaratmaktadır.
Fotoğraflarımda, hayatın her yanını kaplayan stresten uzak, biraz da mizahi bir bakış açısıyla kadrajlarımı oluşturmaya gayret ediyorum.
Fotoğrafı bir cümle ile anlatmam gerekirse, yan etkisi sadece huzur ve mutluluk olan bir antidepresandır fotoğraf.

I was born in 1970 in Istanbul. I graduated from Kadıköy Anatolian High School and then Istanbul Technical University. I am a Chemical Engineer. I am married and have a son. Following my professional business life, I have been working in my own company since 2012.
GOKHAN ARER and PHOTOGRAPHY
I stepped into this magical world with a camera I bought for my son in 2015. I received basic photography training in a course called Photography Workshop. Thanks to a Photography instructor in this course that I met Street Photography and it became my passion. I try to take street photos in most of my time outside of my professional business life. The places I prefer for photography are Sirkeci, Eminönü and Karaköy, which we call the "Holy Lands of Photography". People are usually at the center of my photos. Witnessing the surprises in life and immortalizing those scenes is the most valuable and enjoyable part of my passion. Sometimes, I bring those scenes in different orders, I try to show and present them in a frame different from its real form , in other words, I try to create an illusion and it makes me happy
In my photographs,
I try to compose my frames , with a somewhat humorous perspective, away from the stress that covers all aspects of life.
If I had to describe the photograph in one sentence, it is an antidepressant of which side effect is only peace and happiness.
